yes_justiceI have arthritis in my neck. I feel like my neck is in a vice when its bad. I've treated it with various NSAID's, opiates, heat, cold, Yoga, physical therapy (ultrasound), massage, Feldenkrais, and burning herbs.
Yesterday, I had an outpatient surgical procedure performed to relieve the pain. They had hoped to inject a steroid in between C5 and C6, but that proved impossible due to the physical amount of arthritis, so after a painful failure, he was forced to inject in between c2 and c3. I am unsure what this logic was and am awaiting a follow up to discuss. He also hit a nerve during the surgery and my body convulsed hard, knocking over a tray, and startling the nurses a bit. During the surgery, he described me as a unique case "one in 200 patients" and generally indicated it didn't go as he had hoped.
At present, I am in significantly more pain than usual. Some of the pain is in my jaw, some shooting down my arms, and my right should and upper spine are very sore.
Hopefully Dr. Darien Behravan of the Bay Area Pain & Spine Institute will be able to help me out of this state. At present, I wish I had not done the procedure. Its possible the current pain will subside and I will improve. I am due for two more injections. Not sure I want to subject myself to it.
Scary thing is this procedure is implicated in the recent Fungal Meningitis outbreak:

The doctor say there is no cause for alarm. The doctor is in.
