WindRiver's VxWorks RTOS source code is available online (circa 5.5?)

Not everything is there, however most of what 5 years ago was considered WR's crown jewels is there. The kernel. Stuff I worked on. The scheduler. The memory manager. Its mostly all there.

Some companies paid upwards of six digits to obtain that source, and it didn't build out of the box even!

I raise an eyebrow because I know for a fact its running today in deployed military systems. Hmm.

I wonder what the story is?

If they had PD'd it five or ten years ago maybe I wouldn't be having this dog ball sucking Linux development experience. So many products running this inappropriate Frankenstein's monster of an o/s that would be much better off with VxWorks.

I wonder if that code is supposed to be online?

If that OS is running Military applications, it is a potential security breech being online like that.

Perhaps, someone should notify Vivek Kundra.

Heh, I remember those mods!

I finked them out to WR Tech Support. I may not be thrilled with the usages of military software applications, but I sure as shit don't want that code falling into malicious hands.

Well I posted on windx. Unless this stuff has been released this is a major wrong.

I have very little in the code base, all I did was crap jobs for Dan, no real development. What a waste of time.

The TS manager didn't think it had been released.

What a waste of time.

It would be hard to top some of the experiences you had on the other side of the pond. I have worked worse jobs.

I expect someone on windx will know the story, or will know who to call.
