Fuck the US Military's raping death squads:

Investigators believe American soldiers spent nearly a week plotting an attack in which they raped an Iraqi woman, then killed her and her family in an insurgent-ridden area south of Baghdad, a U.S.military official said Saturday. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is on going, said the attack appeared "totally premeditated" and that the soldiers apparently"studied" the family for about a week before carrying out the attack. According to the official, the Sunni Arab family had just moved into a new home in the religiously mixed area about 20 miles south of Baghdad. The Americans entered the home, separated three family members from the woman, then raped her and set fire to her body, the official said. The three others were also slain. A senior Army official who also requested anonymity because the investigation is ongoing said one of the victims was a child .

Baghdad attacks are increasing .... as predicted

Over one thousand Iraqis were slain in June

A particularly brutal car bomb attack in Sadr city killed 77 and wounded about 100 Iraqis, leaving corpses on the tops of neighboring two story buildings.

In Their Own Words: Reading the Iraqi Insurgency

Troops constantly under fire in Ramadi where Falluja has become the model.

Note to self: Before we move from A to B, better to know we're at A.

Given the number of women who were not raped & murdered by occupation forces perhaps its unreasonable to focus upon the ones who were...

Not to mention the majority of Iraqis didn't die in car bombings, only a small percentage.

I was just re-reading the summary of the Lancet Study, which found that 98,000 Iraqi civilians deaths occurring between the March 2003 invasion and September 2004 were the result of the invasion and occupation. The study intentionally did not include figures for Fallujah, but if it had "the survey's estimate would have been of an excess of about 298,000 deaths, with 200,000 concentrated in the 3% of Iraq around Fallujah". Of course, that's only an idea of the number of civilian deaths suffered during the first 17.8 months of the War on Iraq. We might consider including more recent figures, and figures for the first Gulf War, and for the UN Sanctions period, and for the numbers killed by Clinton's and Bush's bombing operations before March 2003, and for the numbers killed by Hussein during the post Gulf War 1991 uprisings while the US and other countries (including my "tolerant" nation of Canada) did nothing, and for the period between 1979 when Hussein came to power and 1990 when Hussein's regime was given massive military and economic aid that helped him attack Iran and Iraqi Kurds... Oh what a spree!

What I think when I shop for food these days is why can I go to my market without fear of death?

The brutality of my nation, and my inability to affect and change are truly horrifing.

The latest terrorist outrage in Canada, apparently, is the pissing on a war memorial by a trio of drunk guys on their way home. Seriously. A substantial reward ($1000) for their arrest has been offered (by a veteran member of the military Dental Corps, I kid you not). There is what amounts to a "manhunt" on the national media. I'm waiting to see Robert Stack pop up out of his casket to report on this crime against humanity. meanwhile, in the 16 years that I've been in montreal there have been maybe 10 incidents of racist descrations of Jewish cemetaries that have been reported locally - as seems entirely reasonable - but none reported nationally.

Gosh, I hope no one wants to know what Canadian troops are doing in Afghanistan and Haiti!

Why'd you stop posting these kinds of stories in Antiwar?

I, for one, miss them.

I'm trying to post only proactive stories to antiwar. I'll reconsider.
