Its been a long winter and this was his first time back to the beach since I got sick. He bounced around like a happy teenage mouse or a wound up little spring. It was good to get out. It was bloody hot night and I woke up a 5:30 am and went for a cruise....nice stuff out in the morning.
where i live is a sort of island that runs from clearwater beach to st. pete beach. it used to be that there were condos and large hotels on either end and rustic motels, private little beach shacks, and expanses of sand dunes in between. now it's an end to end block of minimum 5 story high condos. the public can only get to the beach every few miles by paying for parking and cramming in little sections near the entrance ways. it's disgusting. i often dream of the big hurricane that comes and flattens it all. if you drive from one end to the other, you're lucky if you even see the ocean. you could be driving in the middle of a city for all the landscape shows. :(
we pee in our wine....? i'm laughing but i have no clue why haha.
of the places i've been in europe, even in the highly commercial, tourist traps, the hotels and condos are across the road from the beach. the beach itself has little tiki huts that sell food and water and beer and stuff, and there's generally a wide path to walk along. then across the road are bars and night clubs and restaurants, and then behind all them are the hotels and condos. it's a much better set-up.
Squee! My idea of heaven is taking off my shoes, walking along a beach or swimming with some sea lions, and then checking out some tidal pools. Those photos rock.
Yeah, that's definately the garden, heaven on earth. I stay away from the sea lions if at all possible, but I want to take their pictures, so its a dilema. Its cold (read: hypothermia) water out here, but a few days out of the year swimming is possible. Your icon has me pandotized.
Nice, where you live

Yes. 45 minute drive (or two hour drive depending upon traffic) + 3 hour hike from me, , but I'm lucky to live so near.

Come visit, though to my dismay people have been carving up the bay area in favor of steel & glass since I was a young child and before.

we pee in our wine
There is alot of that here too. Dogs should be allowed and the developers banned from beaches.
I hear that train a comin'.

The only reason it exists is that Californians have fought to protect their coastlines.
Seeing stuff like that reminds me what the defenders of wildlife folks are all about.
