Went to AKPRESS and saw Riot Folk, Folk This, Attila the Stockbroker, and David Rovics.
The show was a benefit for the Common Grounds Collective, who are helping people in New Orleans.
While we were singing radical folk music and poetry in Oakland, dozens were slain and hundreds wounded in Baghdad, marine & Iraqi soldier & three civilians were slain in Falluja, and four marines were slain in "liberated" Afghanistan.
Hear that train crying?
"What have we achieved three years on from Shock and Awe? To mark the anniversary of this bloody adventure Patrick Cockburn and Raymond Whitaker examine the coalition's record"

Common Ground's mission is to provide short term relief for victims of hurricane disasters in the gulf coast region, and long term support in rebuilding the communities affected in the New Orleans area. Common Ground is a community-initiated volunteer organization offering assistance, mutual aid and support. The work gives hope to communities by working with them, providing for their immediate needs and emphasizes people working together to rebuild their lives in sustainable ways.Good crowd despite the cold weather. Really Fun show. All the artists were engaging, thought provoking and humorous. It was cozy since it was a full crowd and so damn cold outside. Its a consensus, Bush is a terrorist and New Orleans got Iraq'd.
