I can't stand much of what the mainstream media has on offer and I could die happy without seeing another damn car commercial or station logo. Still, I do like to stay informed in my way, and the internet seems to provide plenty of alternatives to the corporate media. I listen to more Nationalist Petroleum Radio shows than I thought, it appears. Oh well, not much is sacred, I mean, Fox has the Simpsons... All the following A/V shows are either streamed online, available for download, or both.

Date: 2004-05-10 07:22 am (UTC)I get a lot of my news from the Guardian, the BBC, and about the situation in Palestine, even Haaretz, which is an Israeli daily in the tradition of the German ones. For more perspective, the Candadian Broadcasting Corporation is interesting, too.

Date: 2004-05-10 12:17 pm (UTC)I do enjoy many blogs for their apparent diversity.
The Angry Arab is fun these days.
I was sticking to streaming A/V media. The illiterates media!
Perhaps I should post a blog list and news list if I took the time to figgure out how to make lj do something like that!

Date: 2004-05-10 08:20 am (UTC)Listen on realplayer.
The Today program is renowned for giving politicians hell.
One of the funniest things on radio is I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. You'll recognize several NPR shows from their BBC Radio 4 origins. Dead Ringers is also very hard on people like Tony and George, that's where the "My fellow umbrellastands" thing came from.
Then there's the World Service.
Unfortunately the BBC Radio4 web site isn't behaving right now or I'd give you URLs for the shows too.
