On illness evoked by the mind

I have a friend who is undergoing severe suffering. She has severely disfigured herself in an attempt to relieve the symptoms. It is extremely tragic. It is also affecting those around her quite a bit. I am not sure how this will end up, but I hope that love, support, compassion, and healing are what lies ahead instead of the extreme suffering that has transpired. She is an extremely compassionate, loving, just, and beautiful human being vexed with what amounts to an evolutionary disorder and is suffering greatly. I hope for the strength to be supportive and healing.
