"I wrote this after reading Mat Callahan's book, 'The Trouble With Music'. Of course I've read lots of other great stuff on this subject (the commons) but I love what Mat wrote about music and culture as also part of the commons. I agree." - david rovics

Seven days in and 30 US soldier slain this month in Iraq. Which figures because already hundred of Iraqis have been brutally slain this month....

FUBAR = Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. The militant dictatorship we once armed and supported no longer served our interests, so Big Daddy Bush smashes and cripples it - slaying thousands of Iraqis in the process. We then become content to bomb them occasionally and sanction Iraqi children to death. When that became unprofitable lil'boots Bushigula pricks off once again with the bombing & the military invading & the smashing down upon Iraqis and this time, we're not leaving no matter how many other people have to suffer in our wake.

Today, its obvious we lack a functional approach to providing security for the Iraqis aside from burying their dead (and we never had a plan), and so we've resorted to propoganda, torture, and brutal airstrike oppression and those who bother to report the truth about it get dusted. We're still fighting in Falluja, smashing down 40% of its buildings and using chemical weapons last year hasn't stopped the fighting.

Oh yeah, there's talk of defunding the reconstruction because - get this - Iraqis are not making enough progress. Perhaps this was the master plan, I dunno, but its here and now and its bloody hell. Today were watching thousands more Iraqis get slain & suffer while the voilent instability spreads. Well done America.

America owes Iraq Big Time. I just dont see how the occupation can be seen as payment.
