Coming Up: A Democracy Now! Exclusive ... Amy Goodman Interviews Bill Clinton

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Tuesday, former President Clinton’s memoirs will hit the bookstores. To mark the occasion Democracy Now! will re-broadcast an interview on Tuesday that Amy Goodman conducted on Election Day 2000 with the then-sitting president. They discussed many topics you won’t likely hear raised this week: Leonard Peltier, racial profiling, the Iraqi sanctions, Ralph Nader and the Israeli-Palestinian situation. At one point Clinton accused Amy of being “hostile and combative.” On the next day the president's aides threatened to ban Amy from the White House. Amy and her brother David Goodman wrote about the interview in their new book, The Exception to the Rulers: Exposing Oily Politicians, War Profiteers, and the Media That Love Them (Hyperion, 2004). Below is an excerpt of the chapter titled "Not On Bended Knee."

So, a U$A F16 fighter plane fired missiles into a residential neighborhood in Fallujah. US says they were terrorists, and the dead don't argue so....but were all 22 members of the family terrorists? Even the women and children? Were both destroyed houses terrorist strongholds?

This wasn't a fighter jet versus a tank brigade in the desert. This was a fighter jet versus a civilian neighborhood. This was not a surgical strike on a known (sic) munitions plant, this was a house with kids and pets. To use a F16 was literally overkill.

"the entire family of Mohammed Hamadi, a 65-year-old farmer, married with two wives, were killed. Among the dead where his wives and children. At least three women and five children were among the dead. 'The whole family is gone,' said al-Baddrani. 'The blast was so powerful it blew them to pieces. We could only recognise the women by their long hair.'"

....

"At least two houses were destroyed and six others were damaged as slabs of concrete and steel reinforcing bars were up-ended and twisted skyward in the damage, Associated Press Television News footage showed."

Of course the CBS evening news reported this as "US destroyed a terrorist stronghold in Fallujah; killing 22 terrorists". The whores at CBS always repeat exactly what their advertisers want them to say. Its their role in the manufacture of consent. CBS went on to state, "America is fighting terrorists who want chaos and Saddam supporters". (Nice dumbed down sound bite, assholes.)

Hey. Its easier than doing real investigation and reporting. So, terrorism strikes will fall off in the area then? Right? There is no measure of success nor is there any accountability for our violent actions in Iraq. This is murderous chaos. Not sure if its a "war crime" for fighter jets to fire into civilian neighborhoods, but if someone did it to my neighborhood, I suspect there would be vengeful calls for beheadings pretty quickly.
